Dumpsters in driveways, work trucks lining the streets and damaged furniture piled outside homes have become common sights in Palm Bay neighborhoods following this week’s devastating flooding. As families scramble to repair their homes and replace what they’ve lost, Brevard County Emergency Management issued an urgent warning Friday about another potential threat: predatory contractors looking to take advantage of disaster victims. For 62-year-old Katherine Soroka, the concern hits close to home.Floodwaters rushed into her house earlier this week, damaging furniture, appliances and irreplaceable belongings. She said sewage also backed up into her bathrooms, forcing her and her sister to spend days cleaning and disinfecting.“I’ve been staying with my sister, thank God I have her because my house really isn’t livable at this point,” Soroka said. With fans running throughout the house and baseboards removed because of water damage, Soroka is trying to salvage as much as she can.[WATCH: Palm
