Barbra Banda, star forward for the Orlando Pride, will miss the next two league matches because of travel restrictions set forth by the CDC. Banda, a native of Zambia, recently competed in an Olympic qualifying tournament in Africa. Because of an Ebola outbreak in Africa earlier this year, the CDC has a 21-day ban of all foreign nationals re-entering the U.S. from Africa. The match in questions was held in Uganda October 8th. Two other Zambian players who play for National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) teams are also affected. The NWSL said in a statement that “all players are in excellent health.”Banda’s 17 goals not only lead the Orlando Pride, but are the second-most in the NWLS this season. The Pride are scheduled to play at Houston Sunday, Oct. 18, before hosting Gotham the following Sunday, Oct. 25. Orlando is mathematically alive in the playoff chase, but could be eliminated as early as this weekend.
