Parents arrested after toddler found near retention pond, Volusia deputies say — Celebration Community news

Two parents are facing charges after a toddler was found walking around a retention pond in Deltona, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say they responded to the call Saturday morning, where they quickly spotted the child in the water. Deputies say they grabbed the 4-year-old and located his home. Once inside, deputies say they found filthy conditions, with animal waste, a roach infestation, and mold. Deltona Animal control took custody of a caged, neglected dog, deputies say, and a grandparent took custody of the child. Deputies say both parents were arrested on charges of child neglect and animal cruelty. We’ve reached out for more information, including the names of the parents. Check back for updates.
